Welcome to LastSave. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the LastSave desktop application ("the app"). By installing and using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
LastSave is a personal, local-first application for tracking, finishing, and remembering the games you play. It runs on your computer and stores your data on your computer.
1. The app is provided "as is"
LastSave is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. You use the app at your own risk.
2. Your data is yours
Your library, play logs, journal entries, screenshots, and profile are stored locally on your computer in a database file that belongs to you. LastSave does not require an account, and it does not upload your library or personal data to any server that we control. You are responsible for backing up your own data.
3. What the app does on your device
To do its job, LastSave interacts with your computer in the following ways. Using the app means you permit these operations:
- Reads game files and folders. To find installed games and launch them, the app reads shortcuts, executables, and the folders you point it to. It does not modify your game files.
- Detects running games. The app watches running processes so it can tell when a game starts and stops and record your play sessions.
- Detects your hardware. The app reads your CPU, GPU, RAM, and operating system to build a PC profile you can view and share within the app.
- Fetches game metadata. The app connects to the IGDB service to download covers, descriptions, genres, and release information for the games in your library.
- Keeps your data local. Everything you create is written to a local database on your computer. In this version of the app there is no cloud sync and LastSave has no account of its own; the storefront connections described in section 5 are accounts you already have elsewhere.
4. Third-party game metadata
Game metadata — including titles, cover art, descriptions, and release dates — is provided by third parties such as IGDB and its contributors. That content belongs to its respective owners and is subject to their terms. LastSave displays it for your personal reference and does not claim ownership of it.
5. Connecting third-party accounts
LastSave can connect to storefront accounts you already have — currently Steam and Epic Games — so it can read your own library, playtime, and wishlist and bring them into your local collection.
- LastSave is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Valve Corporation, Epic Games, Inc., or any other storefront. Their names and marks belong to them.
- Your sign-in stays with the provider. You sign in on the provider's own page, in a separate window. LastSave never sees or stores your password. Only the resulting access token is kept, encrypted by your operating system, on this computer.
- These connections are unofficial. They use publicly reachable endpoints rather than a supported public API, because for some providers no such API exists. They may change or stop working at any time, and a provider may end them without notice. LastSave cannot guarantee they will keep working.
- You can disconnect at any time. Disconnecting stops syncing. The games, hours, and history already in your library stay exactly where they are — they are yours, and they are local.
6. Acceptable use
You agree to use LastSave only for lawful, personal purposes. You will not attempt to use the app to infringe the rights of others, to distribute copyrighted material you do not own the rights to, or to interfere with the app's normal operation.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, LastSave and its authors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of the app.
8. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the app evolves. When the Terms change in a material way, the app will ask you to review and accept the new version before continuing. The version you accepted is recorded locally.
